General Info

The BMW Historic Motor Club (UK) Ltd is a Club dedicated to Historic BMWs.

The Club is a not for profit Company, Limited by Guarantee and not having a share capital. The General Information Sheet should be read in conjunction with the Memorandum and Articles of Association, which are available on request from the Company Secretary.

Our purpose is:

  • to encourage the use and preservation of historic BMW, Frazer Nash-BMW, EMW, Dixi, Veritas, AFM and Isetta cars
  • to maintain a Register of members and their cars
  • to provide technical information and advice to members
  • to organise events and encourage social contact between members and also other Clubs
  • to promote motor competitions in accordance with the Rules of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (MSA)

The Club is affiliated to the BMW Veteranen-Club Deutschland eV. in the International BMW Classic and Type Club Section of the International Council of BMW Clubs and as such is officially recognised by BMW.

The Club is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), which plays an important role in representing the interests of Historic Vehicle Clubs with Government and the European Union.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone who owns or is interested in eligible historic BMWs.

The annual subscription is £35.00 payable on 1st January each year. There is no joining fee. The subscription for anyone joining after 1st October will include the following year.

Events

The Club encourages members to use their cars in all types of competitions and is a member of the Motor Sport Association (MSA).

Currently the Club organises the following annual events:

  • January: Pre-VSCC Brooklands Driving Test Dinner and Social evening.
  • March/April: Annual General Meeting weekend.
  • May: Annual Social Rally, each year in different areas of the British Isles and usually every 2 to 3 years in Mainland Europe.
  • July: Silverstone Classic Social weekend, with our own Club's stand.
  • September/October: Anniversary social weekend to commemorate the formation of the Club.
  • October/November: Dinner on the eve of the AC Owners Club Goodwood Sprint where we have our own club Class in the competition.

The Club encourages members to use their cars in all types of competition and is a recognised club and member of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association (MSA).

The Committee will always be happy to consider any suggestions for new events that any member or group might like to organise.

Newsletter

A regular newsletter is sent, by email or post, to all members, keeping them informed of developments,forthcoming events, results of events and any other relevant news. Please inform the editor, Kay Sythes, BMW Historic Motor Club, P.O. Box 315, Cheltenham, GL50 9NS or

Magazine

A high quality magazine, Historic BMW", is produced three times a year and is sent to all members free of charge. The Editor is David Williams, BMW Historic Motor Club, P.O. Box 315, Cheltenham, GL50 9NS.

Register

A register of members and their eligible cars is produced every two years.

Eligible Cars

The Club defines the following as eligible historic cars:

All BMW, Frazer Nash-BMW, Dixi, EMW, Veritas and AFM cars made up to and including the 500 series (but excluding „Neue Klasse" cars), 3200, Isetta, 600 and 700 models. Specials based on an eligible BMW chassis and engine may be accepted at the discretion of the Committee.

Regalia

A range of Club Regalia such as car badges and clothing is available.
