Events

The Club encourages members to use their cars in all types of competitions and is a member of the Motor Sport Association (MSA).

Currently the Club organises the following annual events:

  • January: Pre-VSCC Brooklands Driving Tests Supper and Social evening.
  • March/April: Annual General Meeting weekend.
  • May: Annual Social Rally, each year in different areas of the British Isles and usually every 2 to 3 years in Mainland Europe.
  • July: social weekend based around a vintage / classic car event.
    September/October: Anniversary social weekend to commemorate the formation of the Club.
  • October/November: Dinner on the eve of the AC Owners Club Goodwood Sprint our own Club class in the competition on the following day.

The Committee is always happy to consider any suggestions for new events that any member or group might like to organise.

AGM Weekend 2012

Organised by Eliza Morgan, the AGM Weekend will be based at the Stratford Manor Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon. Members can arrive on Friday and enjoy the hotel’s facilities, followed by an informal dinner at the hotel. On Saturday, a trip is planned to the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon with lunch. The afternoon is free to explore Stratford and surrounding areas. A gala 3 course dinner will take place in the evening at 7.30pm. On Sunday, the AGM will start at 9.30am after which members can head for The Stag at Redhill for a delicious two course Sunday lunch.

Annual Rally 2012

Organised by Mike and Kay Sythes,the Annual Spring Rally will be held in Wiltshire and based at Guyers House Hotel, Corsham. Guyers House Hotel is a gem. A charming comfortable, privately owned Hotel with a celebrated Restaurant and 37 pretty en-suite bedrooms surrounded by 6 acres of glorious English gardens including a tennis court and croquet lawn. The gardens are regularly visited by gardening enthusiasts and for many years were open to the public under the National Garden Scheme. The Hotel is situated just off the A4 near the charming little town of Corsham and convenient for Bath, Bradford-on-Avon, Lacock Abbey, the famous picture collection at Corsham Court, the pretty villages of Castle Combe, Biddestone and the Cotswolds. http://www.guyershouse.com

Pre Brooklands Supper Party

This will be hosted by Alastair Pugh at his home in Sidlow Bridge near Reigate, Surrey on the evening of Saturday 28 January, 7.00pm for a 7.30pm sit down. Pre-Goodwood Sprint

Since 1998 the Club has organised a dinner on the eve of The AC Owners Club, Goodwood Sprint. For the last 8 years the function has been held at The Comme Ca Restaurant, Chichester and we returned there again this year.

Anniversary Weekend, Suffolk.

Peter and Anna Mann are organising this year’s Anniversary weekend based at the Stoke by Nayland Golf Club and Spa Hotel in Suffolk, www.stokebynayland.com. The weekend will include a private visit on Saturday morning to the Sir Alfred Munnings Museum, a famous painter and former President of the Royal Academy. In the afternoon, a visit to Hawker Restorations is planned, a small firm whose main business is restoring old aircraft. They also look after historic racing cars and are building an exact recreation of a BMW 328. On Sunday, a picturesque drive through the South Suffolk and North Essex countryside will include a visit to Willy Lott’s cottage, made famous by John Constable’s painting ‘The Hay Wain’. The weekend will conclude with a traditional Sunday lunch at the Rose and Crown in Great Horkesley.

Silverstone Meeting

To celebrate 75 years of the 328, Richard Wyldes, Eliza Morgan, David Williams and Kate Clark-Kennedy organised an extended Silverstone weekend. Their aim, successfully achieved, was to get the largest ever display of 328s on the Club stand, including cars from outside the UK. The weekend was based at the Northampton Marroitt www.marriott.co.uk/hotels/travel/ormnh-northampton-marriott-hotel/ A visit to the Duxford Aircraft Museum took place on Friday followed by the Silverstone meeting on Saturday and Sunday.

Annual Rally

Organised by Nick Todd, the Annual Rally was based at the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell, Derbyshire – www.rutlandarmsbakewell.co.uk . A scatter rally, which included visits to country houses, water mills, a tramway museum and mines took place onFriday A formal VSCC style rally was held on Saturday, and this was followed by the rally dinner and prize giving. On Sunday, a short run to Mellors Elliot Motorsport and Haddon Hall was followed by lunch and departure.

2011 AGM Weekend

Organised by Shaun Woodward and based at the Sharnbrook Hotel, Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire - http://www.thesharnbrookhotel.com/ The weekend included a run to Cambridge and tours of Sidney Sussex and St. John's colleges - including bits the public doesn't get to see - and lunch in The Old Library at Sidney Sussex. The AGM took place on the Sunday.

The supper was hosted by Richard and Jenny Wills at their lovely home in Surrey.
